CCTV “Super Factory”: Entering the VREMT Factory, Unveiling the Birth of the “Second Generation Golden Brick Battery”

Recently, the CCTV “Super Factory” program team led audiences into the Zeekr VREMT Tri-Electric Smart Manufacturing Factory located in Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province, offering a close-up view of the birthplace of the world’s fastest charging power battery—the “Second Generation Golden Brick Battery.” This factory is not only the first tri-electric “future factory” pilot enterprise in Zhejiang Province but also one of the four major production bases of the Zeekr Intelligent Technology subsidiary VREMT, covering a total area of 1567 acres.

During the visit, CCTV host Chang Ting gained a deep understanding of the entire process from the production of battery cells to the assembly of finished battery packs of the “Second Generation Golden Brick Battery.” The battery cell, as the most critical part of the battery, achieves an astonishing efficiency of “charging for 5 minutes, high-speed for 2 hours” through material innovation, structural innovation, and process innovation. Lu Nan, the director of cell manufacturing at the Zeekr VREMT factory, explained that for EV battery manufacturers, the self-research and production of battery cells not only build a technological moat but also help avoid unstable factors in the supply chain, achieving cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

In the cell factory, host Chang Ting visited the highly automated production line, where key processes such as slurry making, coating, rolling, and stacking achieved 100% automated production. The production efficiency of this cell factory is extremely high, with a cell line efficiency of 24 PPM, producing one cell every 2.5 seconds, leading the industry in production efficiency. Meanwhile, the factory strictly controls the production environment, with the baking process environment reaching a dew point of minus 60 degrees, comparable to medical surgery level, to ensure the quality of the cells and the safety of the batteries.

The second stop of the visit was the battery factory, where finished cells are assembled. During the assembly process, the cells undergo three precise stackings, and minor errors may affect the battery’s performance stability and cycle life. Therefore, VREMT created the “cell cluster stacking technology,” stacking around a central point and applying a certain pressure during fixed-length stacking to ensure the uniform expansion of cells, enhancing the lifespan and safety of the Golden Brick Battery.

Moreover, VREMT has also made bold innovations in 800V battery design. For example, their developed integrated liquid-cooled tray not only improves production efficiency but also further enhances the battery’s volume utilization rate, achieving high energy density and long endurance performance of the Golden Brick Battery.

The final stop of the visit was the electric drive factory, where the production of 800V high-performance SiC four-motor distributed electric drives brings an ultimate driving experience to Zeekr cars. The technical innovation of the electric drive factory is equally impressive, with advanced electric heating drip painting fully automatic process, fully automated precision testing, and the use of 3D cameras to assist robots in automatic welding, all showcasing the factory’s high standard production capacity.

The Zeekr VREMT Tri-Electric Smart Manufacturing Factory, with “intelligence, efficiency, and environmental protection” as keywords, has not only achieved significant accomplishments in global leading manufacturing strength but also built a new quality productivity exclusive to VREMT. Their proposed “Three 800s Full Ecosystem Solution,” namely the full-stack 800V vehicle, 800V power battery, and 800V energy replenishment network, exemplifies VREMT’s core tri-electric field full-stack self-research and production strength.

From the release of the first generation Golden Brick Battery at the end of 2023 to the product performance upgrade and full-scale production in just eight months, Zeekr VREMT has always maintained rapid product R&D iteration and high-efficiency production capacity.
